What they do
Consultants who prepare employers for Home Office scrutiny: mock compliance audits, sponsor management system housekeeping, right to work check procedures and record keeping. This work does not need IAA or SRA regulation as long as the consultant stops short of advising on an individual application, and many pair with a regulated adviser or solicitor for that part.
What to check before you hire one
Ask where they draw the line between compliance work and immigration advice, and who they refer the advice to. If they offer to prepare a visa or licence application themselves, they need to be on the IAA register or SRA regulated.
