Immigration advisers for UK employers

Advisers registered with the Immigration Advice Authority, formerly the OISC.

What they do

Immigration advisers who are not solicitors but are authorised by the Immigration Advice Authority (the IAA, formerly the OISC) to give immigration advice. Level 1 covers straightforward applications, Level 2 more complex casework and Level 3 appeals. Many specialise entirely in employer work — sponsor licences, Certificates of Sponsorship and Skilled Worker applications — and charge less than a law firm for the same application.

What to check before you hire one

Look the firm and the individual up on the IAA register and check the level matches the work. A Level 1 adviser cannot handle a refusal or a sponsor licence suspension. Advising without registration is a criminal offence, so no registration means no engagement.
