Type of firm
Health and safety consultants for UK employers
Policies, risk assessments, site inspections and competent-person support.
What they do
Consultants who act as your competent person for health and safety: written policy, risk assessments and method statements, fire risk assessments, site inspections and accident investigation. Sector specialists exist for construction (CDM), care, hospitality and manufacturing.
What to check before you hire one
Look for IOSH membership or the OSHCR register, which only lists consultants with recognised qualifications. Ask for sector experience and sample documents — a generic policy pack is worth very little in an inspection.
