Bookkeepers for UK employers

Day-to-day bookkeeping, VAT and credit control in Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.

What they do

Bookkeepers keep the records that the accountant later turns into accounts: sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliation, VAT returns and often payroll. Priced monthly, and a good fit for an employer that does not need a full accountancy practice every week.

What to check before you hire one

Bookkeepers must be supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes, either by a body such as AAT or ICB or by HMRC directly. Ask which. Confirm they hold professional indemnity insurance.
